Reflection:

Working on this project has been an inspiring experience. I discovered how tutoring not only helps students improve academically but also plays a key role in boosting their confidence.

This experience also helped me reflect on my own self-efficacy in math. As I worked with students, I was reminded of the importance of persistence and a growth mindset. Each time I found new ways to explain a concept or guide a student through a problem, I felt more confident in my ability to teach math effectively. It showed me that building my own self-efficacy as a teacher directly impacts my students' success.

Empathy also played a big role in this project. Understanding the frustrations and challenges students face in learning math helped me connect with them on a deeper level. Hence, the reference to the hero's journey in my presentation. By putting myself in their shoes, I could change my teaching to meet their needs so that I can provide the support they need. I realized that when students feel understood and supported, they are more willing to take risks and try harder, even in subjects they find difficult.

Overall, this project reinforced the importance of building self-efficacy—not just for students, but for myself as a teacher. It also reminded me that empathy is one of the most powerful tools in teaching. Moving forward, I aim to continue fostering confidence in my students while being patient and understanding, especially when tackling challenging tasks.
